Lawrence Jenkins was born in
Sevenoaks, Kent in 1944 and named after his uncle Lawrence, whose name is on the War Memorial that overlooking the Vine, Sevenoaks.
From the Vine there is an ever changing view of the North Downs. The area south of the Downs has provided inspiration and a
foundation for the art work produced by Lawrence. Since his marriage the area of France where his wife spent her childhood has
lead to inspiration for oils, watercolours, and etchings. The exploration of the landscapes that have been the beginning of
their lives gives Lawrence's landscapes a special significants. He sees the landscape as the birthright he treasures most.

The Etching Studio. Inspired by the
teaching of David Hockney at Maidstone Art College, Lawrence spent
his second year as a student at the Royal Academy Schools
producing his first suit of ten etchings. He has continued to produce
prints evers since.
In 1986 he bought an etching press to
edition prints for himself and other artists. After teaching the
post graduate students at the Royal Academy Schools for 27
years he has a wealth of experience to pass on to other artists.
He runs classes for artists who want to make intaglio prints in his
studio in Kent, at Tunbridge Wells Adult Education Center and at
the Prince's Drawing School, Shoreditch, London.

The Studio Artists have been been energetic
supporters of the South East Open Studios. The Studio will be open during the South East Open Studio 09 event from 6 to 21 June. There will a show of small prints open to the public
November 2009. Anyone wishing to visit the studio at any other time should contact Lawrence Jenkins or Lindy Webster
